Hello! My name is Cacky Mellor. I am the Founder & Executive Director of The Label Project Inc. This nonprofit started as an Art Therapy midterm 3 years ago exploring my personal relationship to labels and has quickly taken on a life of its own! We recently have been recognized by the state of Massachusetts as a start-up nonprofit.
Help spread the word and join the movement!
Goals:
- Liberating people from the labels that are placed on them by society, each other, and themselves and to bring awareness to anti-bullying. People are more than the labels that we pigeonhole them.
- Bringing awareness to these important issues and helping to jump start the conversation.
Thank you very much for all of your support!

Warning!
The following includes graphic images that may be disturbing to some viewers.
No one was harmed in the making of this project.
Participants were asked the label that has most negatively impacted them and where in their bodies they feel it. Make-up was used to create a bruise on that area of their body, with the word inside of it. The recordings are the participants’ words in their voice.
All participants are volunteers and their identities are kept anonymous.
Thank you to all who participated. Being a witness to your process continues to be a blessing. I am excited to continue this process.
I am getting so excited about the Impact: An Exploration of the Physical Impact of Words Premier!!! Hope to see all of you there!
For this project, participants are asked the label that has most negatively impacted them and where in their bodies they feel it. Make-up is then used to create a bruise on that area of their body with the word inside of it. The participants were given the option of recording a statement to play over the images. The images and voice recordings of the participants have been put together into a short film that will be premiering.
Endless gratitude to everyone who has already participated! I am so proud of this project and each and everyone one of you! Thank you!
